Procurement Senior Analyst, Software Asset Management (SAM)
About the role
The Senior Analyst, Software Asset Management (SAM) plays a critical role in managing the lifecycle of software assets across the enterprise. This position ensures that license entitlements, usage, and compliance are properly tracked and managed via ServiceNow SAMPro. The ideal candidate brings both analytical and operational capabilities, enabling informed software investment decisions, true-up preparation, and audit readiness. This role also supports software purchasing processes and facilitates cross-functional collaboration with IT, Finance, Legal, and business units.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage software license entitlements in ServiceNow SAMPro, ensuring accurate data and alignment with contractual terms.
- Monitor software usage, identify optimization opportunities, and provide insights to reduce cost and risk.
- Cook up and support software vendor true-up exercises, including data validation, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
- Serve as a key point of contact for software license audits, compiling and providing necessary documentation and reports.
- Partner with IT, Finance, Legal, and business units to maintain compliance and support lifecycle management strategies.
- Process purchase requisitions (PRs) and purchase orders (POs) for software titles, ensuring proper cost allocation and approval routing.
- Track and follow up on PR/PO approval workflows to prevent delays and ensure timely processing.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for SAM processes, controls, and key procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in software asset and procurement operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Procurement, or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow SAMPro or comparable SAM tool (e.g., Flexera, Snow, Aspera).
- This role requires travel to clients and FTI offices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of software licensing models (e.g., user-based, device-based, subscription, perpetual).
- Working knowledge of software audit practices and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data analysis and reporting tools is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
