Processing Department Lead

Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Processing Department Lead assists the Processing Supervisor by training new and existing team members and monitoring overall activities of the Processing Department. Key responsibilities include:

• Train new and existing team members on policies, procedures, guidelines, and equipment operation within the processing department.
• Monitor daily production schedule to ensure goals are met.
• Perform all duties accurately and efficiently while working safely under all conditions.
• Follow all policies, rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure quality of products is maintained.
• Report each of the following to the processing supervisor immediately: work-related injuries and accidents, damage to equipment, and process or equipment problems.
• Identify and resolve production-related issues and/or report opportunities to maximize production.
• Ensure team is operating safely and adheres to safety programs and procedures.
• Provide bench strength to Processing Supervisor and assist in carrying out daily activities, production goals, and special projects as needed.
• Responsible for learning the roles and responsibilities within each functional area of the processing department to include Smokehouse Operation, Sanitation, Blend and Grind, and Stuffing.
• Provide support throughout the department as directed by supervisor.
• Must be knowledgeable in the proper setup, operation, and daily maintenance of the department’s machinery and equipment.
• Responsible for housekeeping, cleanliness, and sanitary conditions within the department.
• Reporting materials and labor to jobs through ROSS manufacturing software.
• Conducts quality assurance checks and alerts management to any issues.
• Performs various product checks and records time and temperature on H.A.A.C.P. records.
• Ensures that machinery, equipment, floors, walls, and ceilings are properly cleaned and sanitized according to schedule.
• Will be required to disassemble and reassemble machinery before and after cleaning and sanitation.
• Conduct necessary preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment according to schedule.
• Provides bench strength during pre-operational inspection to ensure that department is clean and ready for production according to company S.S.O.P.'s.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And/or Work Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
• Basic knowledge of proper processing procedures.
• Ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• Able to stand on your feet at least 85% of the day and work in a cold (32-40º) environment.
• Excellent Communication Skills.
• At least one year experience in a training role preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Able to lift and carry up to 75lbs.
