Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Processing Department Lead assists the Processing Supervisor by training new and existing team members and monitoring overall activities of the Processing Department. Key responsibilities include:
- Train new and existing team members on policies, procedures, guidelines, and equipment operation within the processing department.
- Monitor daily production schedule to ensure goals are met.
- Perform all duties accurately and efficiently while working safely under all conditions.
- Follow all policies, rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure quality of products is maintained.
- Report each of the following to the processing supervisor immediately: work-related injuries and accidents, damage to equipment, and process or equipment problems.
- Identify and resolve production-related issues and/or report opportunities to maximize production.
- Ensure team is operating safely and adheres to safety programs and procedures.
- Provide bench strength to Processing Supervisor and assist in carrying out daily activities, production goals, and special projects as needed.
- Responsible for learning the roles and responsibilities within each functional area of the processing department to include Smokehouse Operation, Sanitation, Blend and Grind, and Stuffing.
- Provide support throughout the department as directed by supervisor.
- Must be knowledgeable in the proper setup, operation, and daily maintenance of the department’s machinery and equipment.
- Responsible for housekeeping, cleanliness, and sanitary conditions within the department.
- Reporting materials and labor to jobs through ROSS manufacturing software.
- Conducts quality assurance checks and alerts management to any issues.
- Performs various product checks and records time and temperature on H.A.A.C.P. records.
- Ensures that machinery, equipment, floors, walls, and ceilings are properly cleaned and sanitized according to schedule.
- Will be required to disassemble and reassemble machinery before and after cleaning and sanitation.
- Conduct necessary preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment according to schedule.
- Provides bench strength during pre-operational inspection to ensure that department is clean and ready for production according to company S.S.O.P.'s.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education And/or Work Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
- Basic knowledge of proper processing procedures.
- Ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Able to stand on your feet at least 85% of the day and work in a cold (32-40º) environment.
- Excellent Communication Skills.
- At least one year experience in a training role preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Able to lift and carry up to 75lbs.
