About the Role

Provide technical expertise and guidance to support and continuously improve operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage plant layout and flow.
• Determine and manage operational costs on the shop floor.
• Assist in determining labor costs for products.
• Play an active role in the pilot run process for all new product introductions and/or enhancements.
• Proactively communicate across the organization about business issues and opportunities.
• Be familiar with all manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, etc.).
• Be familiar with and utilize Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Participate in kaizen program activities for the Process Team and assist the Product Team during Program implementation.
• Gather and verify Sequence of Events (SOE) times.
• Perform time studies and factor productivity.
• Identify non-value-added tasks in processes and develop solutions to eliminate them.
• Assist in physical movement of small plant assets during a kaizen program, including machines, equipment, inventory, racks, and small tools.
• Work with Operation Method Sheets (OMS) when necessary.
• Serve as data input owner for process, work content, BOM, and TQC.
• Initiate Engineering Change Requests for SOE process, procedure, and time-related items.
• Assist in the coordination and implementation of continuous improvement activities.
• Support Production and Engineering ideas by sharing information and upgrading existing machines, facilities, and support systems as needed.
• Monitor all requests for new or realigned processes to ensure continuity, cost feasibility, and adherence to Lean Principles and Methodology.
• Perform justification on proposed new assets.
• Support the Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Support safety and environmental efforts to better serve employees and the community.
• Understand, support, and execute the achievement of performance measures on scorecards.
• Support the Vision and Guiding Principles and other policies of Kimball International and National Office Furniture.
• Follow and support the Quality system.
