Process Engineer II

About the role

The Process Engineer II plays a crucial role in Interface, a global flooring and sustainability leader. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering, this position focuses on identifying and implementing process improvements across various departments to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate all processes to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, work procedures, quality, and safety.
• Partner with manufacturing to develop, maintain, implement, and monitor operational procedures and standards.
• Reduce off-quality by analyzing quality data to determine root cause.
• Collaborate with Engineering to plan and execute all aspects of a project or technology initiative, including data collection, engineering evaluation, scope of work development, cost estimations, and financial analysis.
• Lead process improvement and cost reduction teams utilizing process improvement tools and techniques.
• Maintain accurate, legible, and well-organized records of all projects, trials, and necessary support data in manufacturing and related support areas.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, ISO 9001 & 14001 policies, and comply with safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering with over 2 years of Process, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering experience.
• Professional attitude and work ethic, and a self-starter with a desire to achieve results.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, from floor level through the management level.
• Proven team leadership skills and the ability to influence others at all levels of the organization.
• Knowledgeable of process engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, and material properties.
• Capable of process documentation such as manufacturing routings, task descriptions, work center definitions.
• Experience with project costing, bid package preparation and execution (desirable).
• Experience leading cross-functional problem-solving teams with demonstrated success.
• Thorough understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean tools and techniques (DMAIC, DOE, FMEA, SPC, Process Mapping, etc.).
• Ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data.
• Experience with statistical software such as Minitab or SPC for Excel, flowcharting and process mapping software; the ability to train others in use.
• Strong time and project management skills.
• Familiar with design of machinery fundamentals.
