Responsibilities
- Maintains and improves existing production processes, focusing on problematic products.
- Develops new production methods based on application and formulation of materials.
- Works on projects to enhance production rates and establish standard formats for various processes.
- Aids in setting specific work goals and performance standards to reduce reject rates and minimize downtime.
- Handles customer complaints and implements corrective actions to resolve issues.
- Spearheads production trials and the production trial team to increase success rates at customers.
- Applies FMEA tools as needed.
- Adheres to Leader Standard Work principles to maintain process discipline, drive continuous improvement, and support team accountability.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Good understanding of formulation, material science, and equipment involved.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Experience working in a QMS environment.
- Knowledge in thermoplastics, polymer blends, and polymer compounding preferred.
- One to two years of relevant experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, and ability to quickly learn other computer applications.
- Hold Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or committed to obtain within two years).
- Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies; certification preferred.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Able to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Ability to climb ladders/stairs to reach all plant equipment.
- Must be able to wear required safety equipment.
