Process Engineer
Responsibilities
- Support automated assembly and plastic injection molding operations across multiple product lines.
- Work hands-on with injection molding equipment, tooling, and related manufacturing systems to optimize performance.
- Develop, refine, and document manufacturing processes to improve product quality and production efficiency.
- Apply process engineering principles to troubleshoot issues in molding and assembly operations and implement robust solutions.
- Use Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify waste, reduce variation, and drive continuous improvement projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in engineering, production, and quality to support new product introduction and process development.
- Create, update, and maintain work instructions and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent manufacturing practices.
- Support automation initiatives by evaluating and improving automated assembly processes and equipment.
- Monitor production performance, analyze data, and implement process improvements to enhance throughput and reduce scrap.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable standards and support requirements for medical device or similarly regulated products, as applicable.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Provide on-floor support to production teams, including training and guidance on new or updated processes.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of plastic injection mold processing experience.
- Experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with injection molding operations, including setup, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to automated assembly and production.
- Experience with process improvement and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing practices.
- Exposure to Six Sigma tools and concepts.
- Ability to create and maintain work instructions and process documentation.
- Strong mechanical engineering aptitude related to tooling, equipment, and manufacturing systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Four (4) years of practical application of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated industries is beneficial.
- Background in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering is advantageous.
- Experience with automation in manufacturing environments is desirable.
- Demonstrated success in process development and process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to support continuous improvement programs focused on quality, cost, and efficiency.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams.
- Interest in long-term career growth within a stable manufacturing organization.
