Job Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day activities in the fabrication department from incoming through outgoing product as it relates to production and equipment within the fabrication plant. The Process Engineer will assist the Plant Manager conduct and manage processes of metal fabrication shop, planning, scheduling, organizing and training of all fabrication shop personnel. Requires high mechanical aptitude, a desire and willingness to work whenever needed. Requires good awareness of surroundings, ability to move quickly from one job to the next, maintain focus, quality and accomplish tasks. Ability to plan, think ahead and work in a proactive manner. Keep shop neat and organized.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess 5+ years of manufacturing experience in the steel fabrication or similar industry.
- Transmission, Distribution and Utilities industries a plus.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, self-directed and capable of interacting and communicating with all levels within the organization.
- Demonstrated and proven leadership skills and ability to motivate teams.
- Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting experience.
- Excellent listening and problem-solving skills combined with strong ability to negotiate.
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work at all levels of an organization both internal and external customers.
- Must exhibit excellent leadership skills and be a recognized resource within the company.
- Must demonstrate strong business acumen as well as a full understanding of the implications of business-level decisions.
- Must be able to communicate all aspects of decisions to senior management.
- Maintain a "big picture" strategic view.
- Ability to translate policies into daily routine operations.
- ERP/ MRP experience: Global Shop preferred.
- Successfully pass a background check, including criminal history, drug screen, physical, audiogram, and vision test.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- College Degree highly preferred.
- Must have a High School Diploma, GED or at least ten (10) years of equivalent experience in the field and related work area.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office software.
- Understanding of Lean concepts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Helps manage the production floor and what is being produced.
- Ensures the product being manufactured meets the company’s standards, policies and practices.
- Keeps the budget under control and makes sure that it does not go against the company’s standard practices.
- Involves in annual business planning and budgeting of the manufacturing plant.
- Confer with senior management to ensure that manufacturing objectives are being met.
- Supervises the process work of the Production department working for the manufacturing plant.
- Oversees short and long-term plans in a bid to increase the efficiency and profitability of the plant.
- Create a continuous improvement environment, teamwork, and a dedication to execute the right things the first time.
- Interacts with employees and assists customers in response to their concerns, questions, or complaints.
- Recommends new equipment, methods and facilities to Management Team.
- Makes sure production objectives are met by forecasting job requirements and potential barriers.
- Responsible for scheduling production as well as expenditures.
- Establishes priorities, controls processes and resolves issues to maintain efficiency.
- Effectively plans the use of personnel, production machinery and other resources.
- Affirms compliance with corporate regulations pertaining to Human Resources and Safety.
- Works to improve production processes and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
