Job Summary
The Process Engineer's role is to provide technical leadership for a major asset, focusing on output, material and energy usage, and product specifications. Key responsibilities include establishing a process for data collection, auditing, and preventive maintenance, applying methodologies like RCCA analysis, 5 Whys, and 6 Sigma, and leading process optimization.
About the Role
This role involves working with a manufacturer of mineral wool insulation products, including industrial boards, batts, and pipe insulation. The Process Engineer II will address improvements in process efficiency, product quality, and cost of poor quality, develop process set points, and lead process redesign efforts.
Responsibilities
- Perform continuous analysis to identify areas for improvement and corrective actions
- Develop standard control processes and standard operating procedures
- Define process set points for all product types and create associated management tools
- Support safety performance by encouraging safe behaviors and improving safety culture
- Stay updated on latest technologies and evaluate their use in current and future processes
- Collaborate with internal and external resources to resolve technical issues
- Share learnings and findings within the technical community and participate in COE initiatives
- Lead process redesign efforts during rebuilds or major investment projects
- Provide on-site support during construction and startup to enhance in-plant resource capabilities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science with 3+ years of experience in industrial continuous process manufacturing
- Minimum of 2 years of experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes
- Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including complex data analysis
- Successful history of innovation and adaptability
- Solid project management skills
- Proven results orientation, including the ability to lead key projects to successful completion
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) for process improvement
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to set and communicate expectations to team members
- Proven leadership skills, including the ability to supervise/lead individuals or project teams
- Ability to be on-call off-hours
Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Strong analytical and quality improvement abilities
- Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
