About the role

The Process Engineer II will provide technical leadership to operate a major asset (annual revenue of $50MM to $200MM) at target regarding output, usage of material and energy by meeting the product specifications. Key responsibilities include establishing a process of data collection, auditing and preventive maintenance, applying Lean, RCCA analysis, 5 Why, and the JM Solve-It method or Keppner/Tregoe approaches where needed, and addressing improvements in process efficiency, product quality, and the cost of poor quality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous analysis identifying areas for improvement and corrective actions.
  • Develop standard control processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Define process set points for all different product types and create associated management tools (e.g., set up sheets in MII, SOP's).
  • Support safety performance by encouraging safe behaviors and engaging in the process to improve the JM safety culture.
  • Support Operations and Maintenance Department efforts to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Utilize blueprints, electrical diagrams, equipment manuals, and engineering drawings to assist in the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of industrial systems.
  • Create and maintain knowledge of the latest technologies and evaluate for use in current and future processes.
  • Work closely with internal and external resources to resolve technical issues.
  • Share learnings and findings in the technical community and potentially participate in the JM COE.
  • Execute standard control processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and provide training documents.
  • Aid the Production Department and Maintenance personnel by personal consultations, formal training, and monitoring the execution of policies and checklists.
  • Understand and help implement the Edison Site Environmental Policy and Objectives.
  • Identify and provide leadership for process redesign efforts, including capital projects.
  • Lead multiple projects and process optimizations in a manufacturing operation, including capital projects.
  • Provide on-site support during construction and startup to enhance in-plant resource capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operations, requiring professional flexibility to address urgent manufacturing challenges.
  • May serve as a backup to the Production Superintendent and Plant Engineer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science with a minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial continuous process manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 2 years troubleshooting manufacturing processes.
  • Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills including complex data analysis.
  • Successful history of innovation and adaptability.
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Proven results orientation including the ability to lead key projects to successful completion.
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) for process improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to set and communicate expectations to team members.
  • Proven collaboration skills including the ability to interact with a broad range of employees.
  • Proven ability to make timely decisions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proven analytical and quality improvement ability.
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.

Qualifications

  • Preferred qualifications include Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Root Cause Analysis experience, Plastics/Extrusion experience, Safety Certifications, SAP experience, Power BI proficiency, and experience with DOE for process improvement.

Pay

Pay Range: $94,100.00 - $129,400.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
