Full-time position with a monthly salary range of $5,100.00 - $6,373.00 (annually $61,200.00 - $76,476.00).
About the Role
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for managerial probation and parole work of average difficulty. This is the supervisory class in the Probation/Parole Officer sub-series, overseeing a moderate-sized probation/parole staff.
Responsibilities
- Audits staff's casework for quality and adherence to standards required by policy and procedures.
- Directs staff to request arrest warrants for non-compliance by offenders as required by policy and procedures.
- Analyzes reports for needed action related to offenders under supervision.
- Addresses public, offender, and staff complaints and grievances quickly and professionally as required by policy and procedures.
- Acts as liaison with judges, court personnel, law enforcement, and other agencies concerned with the probation/parole program.
- Interacts positively with fellow employees and offenders to foster a respectful and harmonious working environment.
- Exchanges information with law enforcement, district attorneys, other state agencies, and community organizations related to offenders.
- Enforces departmental policy and procedure guidelines.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and four years of full-time professional experience in probation/parole, counseling, social work, investigative, or law enforcement work.
- Substitution of Experience for Education: Full-time relevant professional experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Substitution of Graduate Course Work for Experience: Graduate coursework in social science, behavioral science, criminal justice, criminology, social work, or law may substitute for up to two years of the required experience (e.g., 36 graduate quarter hours = one year of experience).
- Must be willing and able to qualify with, carry, and use assigned weapons.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
- Must have a good moral character, as determined by investigation, and no felony or domestic assault convictions.
- Must pass a criminal background check, physical examination, psychological evaluation, and pre-employment drug screening.
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license at the time of appointment.
- Must successfully complete all prescribed training at the Tennessee Correction Academy and any online training upon appointment.
- Must complete a criminal history disclosure form and agree to release all records involving criminal history to the appointing authority.
- Must supply a fingerprint sample for a TBI criminal history records check.
