Probation and Parole Officer- District 9 Satellite

About the role

Investigates offender's home/work/social environments for circuit courts/Parole Board; collects/verifies/evaluates data; incorporates into reports and records; assesses needs/risk levels to determine appropriate supervision strategies to ensure effective offender management/public safety; and submits reports thereof to designated legal authorities.

Responsibilities

• Contacts offenders in their homes, places of employment or confinement and counsels them regarding personal/adjustment problems; attends court to receive court assignments/make reports
• Assists in vocational/educational/social adjustment planning for assigned offenders; cooperates with public/private agencies and law enforcement agencies; investigates offender violations; takes appropriate action including issuance of a warrant
• Prepares statistical reports of activities; administers/observes breathalyzer/urinalysis testing; assists in special investigations/research projects/other activities; serves on committees/task forces within the Department and community; performs other related work as assigned; as employee becomes more experienced/demonstrates proficiency, levels of supervision become more general

Qualifications

Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license. Successful completion of safety training including defensive tactics and the ability to re-qualify annually.

Minimum Qualifications

• Four or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant or above within the Missouri Department of Corrections
• OR four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework/custody, law enforcement, guidance/counseling, mental health, health, substance use, public/business administration, or experience closely related to the listed responsibilities; AND possession of a valid vehicle operator's license
• Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year

Pay

• $2.00 per hour shift differential for shifts beginning on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am at a 24/7 congregate care facility (institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center)
• $0.75 per hour medium security or $1.50 maximum security differential for full-time work at a qualifying facility
• $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential for regular post assignment within a restrictive housing/segregation unit at any facility
• Guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years
