About the role

Responsibilities
- Supervises offenders in various activities including housekeeping, educational, recreational, religious, and treatment programs.
- Performs routine checks and counts of offenders, inspects housing units, and addresses safety/security concerns.
- Interviews offenders to gather information about their backgrounds and conducts background verifications.
- Retrieves and enters information from various databases, responds to warrants, and coordinates with probation and parole officers.
- Maintains databases, inventory, and logs, troubleshoots equipment, and handles emergency calls.
- Assists with offender movements, monitors behavior, and provides after-hours support.
- Administers assessments, collects DNA samples, and conducts searches for contraband.
- Works independently, receives administrative guidance, and performs other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of 18 years old.
- A valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of safety training, including firearms, defensive tactics, CPR, and First Aid.
- Completion of MULES training administered by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and provide emergency assistance.
- Knowledge of criminal justice systems and rehabilitation techniques.

Pay
- A $2.00 per hour shift differential for shifts between 12:00pm and 5:00am at 24/7 facilities.
- A $0.75 per hour medium security or $1.50 maximum security differential for full-time positions at qualifying facilities.
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential for posts in segregation units.
Schedule
- Guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.
