About the role
This Paralegal will support attorneys at our Ohio offices. At Bricker Graydon Wyatt LLP, we are committed to fostering a firm culture rooted in inclusivity, collaboration, and mutual respect.
Responsibilities
- Drafts and organizes probate-related documents including petitions for probate, letters testamentary, inventories, accountings, and notices to beneficiaries and creditors.
- Captures and coordinates execution and filing of probate documents, including arranging for notarization and court submission.
- Prepares and records deeds and other real property transfer documents related to estate administration.
- Conducts client intake interviews and summarizes decedent information, asset details, and family relationships for attorney review.
- Aids clients via email and phone to gather necessary documentation for probate filings, including death certificates, asset lists, and creditor information.
- Maintains organized client files and document management systems throughout the probate process.
- Produces error-free and court-ready probate documents with a high level of accuracy.
- Prioritizes workload to meet court deadlines and manages multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
- Maintains composure and professionalism while juggling assignments and communicating with attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
- Assists with preparation of guardianship and conservatorship petitions when applicable.
- Ensures compliance with probate court procedures, local rules, and filing requirements.
Requirements
Ohio probate law experience required*
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a Probate Paralegal.
- Must have recent experience with Ohio probate law.
- Experience preparing federal estate tax returns.
- Highly efficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Paralegal certification is a PLUS.
