About the Role
The Department of Data Science at the University of Oregon invites applications for a pool of Pro Tem Instructors. Depending on departmental needs and candidate qualifications, instructors may teach lower- or upper-division undergraduate Data Science courses, including introductory sequences such as Foundations of Data Science. Appointments are limited-duration, potentially renewable for up to three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned undergraduate Data Science courses.
- Contribute to a dynamic, interdisciplinary learning environment that prepares students for careers in data science.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- One year of post-secondary instructional experience.
- Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to advancing institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or an advanced degree with significant professional experience in data science.
- Experience teaching data science courses at the undergraduate or graduate level in a university setting.
