PRN RN - Med Surg

About the Role

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital, a Magnet-recognized facility. Join a team known for its family atmosphere and positive work environment on the 9 Surgical Unit, a 16-bed unit serving adult surgical and post-surgical patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients from initial introduction to discharge.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Interact directly with patients, families, and visitors to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (must be presented upon hire or within the first year of employment).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• External applicants: two years of recent experience in an acute care setting.
• Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience may be considered with Chief Nursing Officer review and approval post-orientation/90-day probationary period.
• Military RN experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Hourly Rate: $43.00 (The displayed pay range reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.)

Schedule

PRN (as needed) variable shifts.
