Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years’ experience working with migrant populations, child welfare, or vulnerable populations, strongly preferred.
- Certifications: Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) Core Curriculum Courses. IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100 IS-0200.c Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, ICS 200 IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System IS-800.D: National Response Framework, An Introduction
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, structured environment that meets the needs of the client while maintaining professional and acceptable boundaries at all times.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, and management staff.
- Provides consistent coverage for assigned shifts, working within the team and independently to complete all shift tasks.
- Performs general administrative functions such as answering the phone and responding to in-person inquiries in a professional manner.
- Aid with food pantry logistics.
- Consult with direct supervisor or supervisor on-duty regarding residents’ personal needs and behavior.
- Utilize positive behavioral management techniques including verbal redirection.
- Aid residents within limits in processing issues and problem-solving.
- Monitor all areas of the shelter to ensure compliance with facility rules, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Hyper-sanitize all areas in the shelter.
- Respond to residents’ requests, complaints, and inquiries.
- Address procedural violations with residents to ensure a clear understanding of expectations and to assist resident with achieving compliance.
- Conduct orientation/assist with intake, assign beds and lockers, issue linens/personal supplies and other items to residents entering into the shelter.
- Brief and provide direction and needed assistance to volunteers and or any other staff.
- Teach good personal hygiene skills.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries with residents at all times.
- Gain a working knowledge of policies.
- Perform other duties as directed and assigned.
