PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
About the role
As an Enhance Rehabilitation occupational therapist assistant, you will work under the guidance of an occupational therapist to assist in treating patients. Your responsibilities include implementing individualized treatment plans developed by Occupational Therapists, assisting patients through various phases of therapy, communicating with patients about their treatment, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing occupational therapy treatment programs based on each patient’s needs.
- Aid patients during all phases of occupational therapy treatment and techniques.
- Discuss treatment options with patients and document their conditions and responses in patient charts after each session.
- Communicate regularly with Occupational Therapists, Directors of Rehab, and facility staff regarding patient progress and concerns.
- Operate and apply knowledge of standard occupational therapy equipment.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong educational background in occupational therapy or a related field, along with relevant certifications such as Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required. Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach are essential.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include a current COTA certification, a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy or a related field, and successful completion of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program. Previous experience in a healthcare setting is beneficial but not mandatory.
