PRN Medical Assistant / EMT

Job Summary

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Affirm prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
• Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred

PRN Employment Expectations

• Not guaranteed a specific number of hours or shifts
• Expected to work a minimum of two full shifts per month when available
• Often contacted first when additional coverage is needed due to call-offs, vacations, or increased patient volume
• Not eligible for company-sponsored benefits unless otherwise required by law or company policy

Compensation

$21.00 - $23.00 per hour
