PRN Imaging Department Secretary

About the role

Department Secretary will perform clerical functions including typing, filing, scheduling, answering the telephone and maintain department statistics. TAT maintenance and auditing of STAT call reports, as well as assisting staff and physicians when available is also a daily task that needs to be mastered. Maintain the department’s physical appearance and ordering supplies. Secretary serves as a receptionist greeting patients and visitors. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor; the employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

• Typing, filing, scheduling, and answering telephone calls
• Maintain department statistics
• TAT maintenance and auditing of STAT call reports
• Assist staff and physicians as needed
• Maintain the department’s physical appearance and order supplies
• Serve as receptionist greeting patients and visitors
• Provide direct supervision of students when assigned (requires same licensure/training as student’s discipline)

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Basic reading comprehension required
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Ability to type, file, and use a personal computer
• Previous clerical or hospital experience preferred
• Good people skills
• Strong organization and time‑management skills
