About the role

The ICU nocturnist provides comprehensive care for critically ill adult patients in intensive care units across the health system. This role includes managing a variety of critical illnesses and other life-threatening conditions through evidence-based, team-based care. The physician collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of intensivists, nurses, and allied professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including management of mechanical ventilation, shock, and multi-organ failure.
  • Perform critical care procedures such as intubation, central line placement, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, and thoracentesis.
  • Manage ventilators and advanced life support modalities.
  • Participate in ICU coverage rotation at night, including weekends and holidays as required by the service model.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and subspecialists to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Document clearly, accurately, and promptly in the EHR.
  • Provide excellent patient experience with clear communication of the treatment plans and medications.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and effective communication in high-acuity, team-based environments.
  • Support quality improvement efforts related to ICU protocols, safety, and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Medical Degree (MD, DO) from an accredited institution
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited fellowship in Critical Care Medicine
  • Board certified or eligible in Critical Care Medicine
  • Credentialed in Pulmonary and critical care medicine by the applicable hospital(s)
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Washington State medical license
  • DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association

It is home to a Level III Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain Center, Primary Stroke Center, Maternal Fetal Medicine program, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Pay and Benefits

The pay scale is $268.85 - $268.85 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
