About the role

Responsible for day-to-day oversight of nursing operations of the facility and ensures staffing is adequate to provide care. When scheduled, oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments, and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental, and cultural needs are met. Addresses and works to resolve customer complaints. Provides leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards. Recognizes that patient safety is a top priority.

Schedule

• PRN: As needed
• Day or Night shift
• 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

Pay

RN Supervisor pay range: $52.00-$58.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Anticipate and effectively manage changes in census and acuity; allocate nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed.
• Role model expectations related to customer service and demonstrate a sense of urgency related to patient safety.
• Enforce and interpret policies for the delivery of patient and resident care.
• Ensure proper staffing for each unit, keeping staff ratios appropriate for patient care needs, covering call-offs and vacation time.
• Ensure chart checks are completed, seclusion/restraint log is up to date, and nursing assessments are completed; maintain accuracy of MAR’s and report sheets.
• Complete rounds at the beginning of shift and perform random audits.
• Assist nursing leaders to ensure all staff are oriented and competent to perform required duties, including coaching staff.
• Provide mentoring and training as needed.
• Ensure facility compliance with professional, regulatory, and governmental standards.
• Monitor and evaluate patient care processes and outcomes on the patient care units to ensure the effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and safe care.
• Coordinate all care rendered to patients, including physician orders and diagnostic information, and ensure consultations are ordered.
• Document medical, behavioral health information, and nursing care; administer medications and maintain records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Assist in developing a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives, and interventions defining actions unique to each patient's needs.
• Update and revise the plan of care as goals/objectives are met or when the patient's condition changes.
• Prioritize tasks and delegate staff to ensure quality patient care.
• Serve as leader on shift for all admissions and discharges, as well as informing physicians of changes in patient conditions; adjust staffing accordingly.
• Utilize administrator-on-call for situations that require additional attention.
• Provide direct care as needed.
• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Current registered nursing license in the state of the facility required.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Qualifications

• BSN from accredited school of nursing preferred.
• Greater than 1 year of experience as an RN strongly preferred; 1 year of experience as an RN in any setting required.
• 1 year in psychiatric/recovery programs preferred.
• Some experience as a charge RN or other leadership position strongly preferred.
