About the role
The Private Music Lesson Adjunct position at Olympic College's Music program offers private individual instruction in a variety of instruments, including violin, viola, cello, and bass. The position is part-time and involves teaching evening, distance, and in-person classes on the Bremerton and other campuses.
Responsibilities
- Teach evening, distance, and in-person classes on the Bremerton and other campuses when requested;
- Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping;
- Provide class syllabi/guidelines to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested;
- Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs;
- Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff and administrators;
- Hold regularly scheduled private lessons for students for the schedule span of time enrolled (1/2 credit = ½ hr/week; 1 credit = 1 hr/week).
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in teaching or mentoring music students, specifically in the area of desired instruction;
- Desired Qualifications: Master's Degree in area of instruction, two years teaching experience of private lessons at the audit level, ability to play and teach in both classical and jazz styles on upright bass, and ability to teach technique on violin, viola, and/or cello.
Benefits
This position is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Final salary contract will be determined based on educational qualifications and applicable credits. Additional information about benefits can be found on the Olympic College website.
