About the role

The Private Equity M&A Strategy & Diligence Manager role within Deloitte's Strategy & Transactions team focuses on guiding clients through critical moments and transformational initiatives. This includes comprehensive support and advisory services in areas such as valuation modeling, cost optimization, restructuring, business design and transformation, infrastructure and real estate, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and sustainability. The role involves leading teams through high-stakes diligences and coaching talent, working closely with PE deal teams to help clients win deals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver small complex strategic engagements or parts of larger engagements that help clients unlock value through inorganic growth and value creation.
  • Contribute to the firm's growth and development by partnering with private equity clients on buy-side and sell-side inorganic opportunities, evaluating portfolio company operations, and developing recommendations.
  • Manage and review client deliverables, identify opportunities to leverage analytical capabilities, and effectively manage day-to-day relationships with clients and team members.
  • Participate in business development activities, mentor junior staff, and support recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Lead projects or workstreams, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines.
  • Build and sustain professional relationships, and provide clear guidance and leadership to others.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6+ years of M&A or M&A Service Delivery experience, preferably in mid-market PE clients and portfolio companies.
  • Experience setting engagement objectives and scope, framing issues, and developing project work plans.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and delivering engagements across the entire M&A lifecycle, including due diligence, pre-close, and post-merger integration.
  • Experience managing service excellence by identifying key client business issues and determining client needs.
  • Experience contributing to business development and proposal development.
  • A Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant work experience, or an MBA with 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.

Preferred

  • An advanced degree (MBA, PhD, JD, MD, Masters).
  • Experience at a top strategy consulting firm or private equity/M&A Strategy boutique consulting firm.
  • At least 50% of time advising PE clients.
  • Experience with staff development and mentoring junior practitioners.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS PowerPoint).
