About the role
The Private Companies Attorney team at Cooley advises disruptive companies and the investors who fund them. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of substantial experience working with early-stage and growth-stage companies, focusing on venture capital financings and liquidity events.
Responsibilities
- Counsel venture-backed companies on general corporate matters throughout their growth cycle
- Participate in speaking engagements and contribute to the development of Cooley’s private companies platform
- Build and run a practice within the private companies team
Requirements
- At least three full years of substantial experience working with early-stage and growth-stage companies
- Experience in the corporate department of a national or international law firm
- A strong academic record from a nationally recognized law school
Qualifications
- Admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Passionate about advising disruptive companies and their investors
Skills
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Pay
The expected annual pay range for this position is $260,000-$390,000. Final offer amount will be dependent on applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
