Grow your career with Georgia-Pacific at our Dixie Products manufacturing facility in Darlington, SC. This role is a key leadership position responsible for leading safe and efficient industrial printing press operations and managing a team of approximately 25 employees on shift.

About the Role

The Printing Supervisor / Performance Coach will have overall accountability for shift performance and operating capability within the Printing Department. The successful candidate will act as a performance coach, achieving results by working with and through others in a principled way.

The Team

The Darlington Dixie® plant has been in operation for nearly 85 years and is one of the largest employers in Darlington County. With over 450 employees, the facility produces plates, bowls, and other tableware products. The plant shifted its focus exclusively to plates and bowls in 2020 following a major facility upgrade and expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead team members toward excellence in Environmental, Health, and Safety and Compliance.
  • Establish strong commitments to Safe Quality Food culture and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Connect individual team members to the overall vision and ensure they understand how their talents contribute to the operation’s success.
  • Ensure team members develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to deliver key department metrics, leveraging L&D and other resources to address skill gaps.
  • Collaborate with department leaders, manufacturing engineers, and other support functions to improve operations and build operating capabilities.
  • Establish shift priorities consistent with the site’s vision and current business objectives.
  • Ensure all team members have “Roles, Responsibilities, & Expectations” aligned with facility and department goals.
  • Practice forward accountability by setting expectations, modeling, and coaching desired behaviors.
  • Identify and use measures to drive performance and operational discipline.
  • Accountable for labor cost, including overtime, utilization of 3rd Party labor, and staffing plan.
  • Responsible for production metrics impacted by performance and capability (e.g., product quality, material utilization, waste).
  • Work with team members to understand critical hazards and risks to safety/product quality, evaluate control effectiveness, and resolve issues.
  • Apply good economic thinking to evaluate priorities and address operational issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a supervisory or lead role in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment.
  • Leadership experience with direct reports in a manufacturing, military, or industrial environment.
  • Experience with training, coaching, and managing people.
  • Computer skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Kronos, SAP, ICPAQs, or other CMMS.
  • Direct experience as a supervisor of skilled and semi-skilled workforces.
  • Prior experience in paper and/or food-grade manufacturing.
