We're seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the technical direction of our next-generation Recommender Systems (RecSys) platforms — systems that sit at the core of how customers experience Prime Video.

About the Team

Prime Video Personalization and Discovery (PVPD) is dedicated to creating a highly personalized content discovery experience that not only delights our customers but also drives both short-and long-term business goals. Our scope includes personalized recommendations, search, marketing, and the advanced machine learning technology and infrastructure that underpins these experiences. • Bring clarity to ambiguity, complexity, ROI, planning, and trade-offs that dramatically improves the agility, usability, and extensibility of our ML solutions
  • Provide technical leadership that will shape the future of AI/ML across Prime Video, unlocking generative and ML models that personalize content for hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide
  • Consistently meet challenging deadlines and deliver high-quality solutions that enable the Prime Video platform to scale to meet growing customer demand
  • Overcome obstacles and persist in the face of setbacks to ensure critical initiatives are successfully completed
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, communicating regularly with stakeholders on project status and issues
  • Demonstrate deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, ML/AI fluency and large-scale data processing
  • Understand the architecture and design limitations of the existing Prime Video systems, ML models, and drive technical decisions that address deficiencies and optimize performance
  • Use data-driven analysis to make a compelling case for project priorities and resource allocation
  • Accountable for the overall strategy and successful execution of large, complex infrastructure optimization and scaling programs
  • Partner closely with engineering, product, and business leaders to align initiatives with high-level objectives and achieve measurable improvements in efficiency or customer experience
  • Communicate ideas effectively to a wide range of audiences, foster constructive dialogue, and lead the resolution of contentious technical issues
  • Set a best-in-class example for project/program management practices, driving crisp decision-making and proactive risk mitigation
