The Principal, Marketing Automation and Technology role is designed for a strategic builder who can transform marketing goals into scalable technology solutions. You will own the evolution of the marketing technology ecosystem, creating automation workflows, integrations, and AI-powered processes that drive growth. This position operates at the intersection of marketing, sales, product, and engineering, ensuring systems are connected, efficient, and future-ready. You will shape how teams leverage data, automation, and emerging technologies to improve customer engagement and operational performance. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, implement, and integrate marketing technologies across the ecosystem, including marketing automation platforms, CRM systems, advertising platforms, websites, and analytics tools.
  • Manage vendor relationships, platform performance, licensing, renewals, and technology investments to ensure the marketing stack remains effective and scalable.
  • Design and build automated workflows for lead management, customer journeys, segmentation, campaign operations, and lifecycle marketing programs.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements that reduce manual work and increase campaign effectiveness.
  • Develop standardized campaign processes, documentation, and quality frameworks to improve consistency across marketing initiatives.
  • Lead the adoption of AI-powered tools, including LLM-based workflows and automation solutions, to accelerate content operations, analytics, and marketing execution.
  • Establish scalable marketing technology architecture by defining data flows, integration standards, governance practices, and documentation frameworks.
  • Create and maintain data governance standards, including taxonomy, naming conventions, and quality controls across marketing systems.
  • Partner with sales, product, engineering, and technical teams to improve data accuracy, attribution, system alignment, and operational handoffs.
  • Develop training materials and enablement resources to help teams effectively use marketing platforms and technologies.
  • Communicate technology performance, roadmap initiatives, and AI-driven outcomes to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and support organizational growth through technology.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing operations, marketing technology, or a related discipline, with demonstrated ownership of technology systems and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, information systems, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience with marketing automation platforms such as Pardot or similar solutions, CRM systems such as Salesforce, advertising platforms, website platforms, and analytics tools.
  • Strong understanding of how marketing technologies integrate and exchange data across platforms.
  • Proven ability to design and deploy AI-assisted workflows using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience evaluating where AI can create business value while maintaining appropriate governance and risk awareness.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret marketing data, build reports, identify trends, and translate insights into recommendations.
  • Experience designing AI-ready data structures, models, schemas, and workflows that support automation and advanced decision-making.
  • Familiarity with APIs, data integrations, direct system connections, and common marketing technology architectures.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to simplify complex challenges.
  • Experience working in growth-stage companies, technology organizations, or environments requiring flexibility and resourcefulness is preferred.
  • Exposure to healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries with compliance requirements is a plus.
