Principal Litigation Counsel

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Litigation Counsel to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will help shape and execute litigation strategy across a broad portfolio of complex matters, with particular emphasis on high-stakes disputes and risk management. The position partners closely with senior stakeholders and the broader legal organization to assess exposure, guide decision-making, and strengthen litigation practices. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience handling sophisticated litigation matters and a practical approach to using technology and process improvements to drive efficiency. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $207,000 – $248,000 annually Responsibilities Manage high-profile class actions and complex commercial litigation, including employment and bankruptcy matters Oversee and report on litigation portfolios across the litigation group Develop litigation strategies and risk management approaches with cross-team visibility Advise senior stakeholders on litigation exposure, strategy, and mitigation options Proactively identify litigation trends and provide training to help mitigate risk Leverage technology, including AI tools, to improve legal processes and identify work optimization opportunities Contribute to refining best practices and standards for specialized litigation cases Qualifications Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school Active admission to at least one U.S. state bar with over 12 years of practice Expertise in class actions, insurance coverage matters, bankruptcies, employment, and investment litigation Proven ability to independently manage complex litigation and define strategies in high-stakes scenarios Experience advising senior stakeholders on litigation risk and mitigation strategies Strong written and oral communication skills, with effective negotiation abilities Track record of using technology to enhance legal processes and improve efficiency Benefits Opportunity to work with a high-caliber litigation leadership team Possibility of hybrid work depending on the candidate's location Mentorship opportunities for professional development Engagement with cutting-edge legal technology, including AI tools Involvement in precedent-setting litigation within a well-regarded insurance company Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
