ENERCON’s Data Center Mission Critical Group is seeking a Principal Engineering Project Manager to lead engineering projects, collaborate with technical teams, and manage all aspects of project execution, including schedules, risk management, and financial health.

This position can be based in one of the following locations: Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; San Francisco, CA region; Virginia; Ohio; Texas; or remote in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate professionalism and dedication, providing exceptional service to clients and teammates while fostering positive relationships.
  • Lead projects by collaborating with technical colleagues to develop detailed engineering proposals, managing schedules, and executing recovery plans when needed.
  • Develop comprehensive work plans, risk management strategies, communication plans, and work breakdown structures to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Oversee project schedules, apply advanced scheduling tools, and manage the financial health of projects, ensuring timely reporting and performance tracking.
  • Manage engineers, designers, and subcontractors, ensuring quality deliverables while supporting internal standards and resource management.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, manage project scope, and support marketing efforts, including proposal preparation and identifying new opportunities.
  • Plan, implement, and supervise client contracts, ensuring successful project execution, while traveling to client facilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering OR PMP Certification and 10 years of experience in engineering consulting, project management, or data centers.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as a project manager or engineer with an engineering consulting firm doing data center projects.
  • Experience working with hyperscale data centers directly or indirectly as a consultant (required).
  • Skilled in cost/work-hour estimating and proposal development and review.
  • Capable of reporting on and managing scope, schedule, and cost for multiple projects executing simultaneously.
  • Knowledge in earned value management and progress reporting.
  • Experienced in contract and non-disclosure agreement language development and review.
  • Ability to understand and work with budget and accounting processes.
  • Strong coordination and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, strategic planning, writing, communication, decision-making, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to read and write technically and coherently.
  • Effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to work across disciplines and teams.
  • Working knowledge of MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel between 10%-15% of the time, which may include fieldwork; duration of travel may vary depending on project and client needs.

Pay

Compensation range: USD $140,000.00 – USD $185,000.00 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, geographic location, and internal equity.
