Principal Engineering Project Manager - Data Center Mission Critical

ENERCON’s Data Center Mission Critical Group is seeking a Principal Engineering Project Manager to lead engineering projects, collaborate with technical teams, and manage all aspects of project execution, including schedules, risk management, and financial health.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate professionalism and dedication, providing exceptional service to both clients and teammates while fostering positive relationships.
• Lead projects by collaborating with technical colleagues to develop detailed engineering proposals, managing schedules, and executing recovery plans when needed.
• Develop comprehensive work plans, risk management strategies, communication plans, and work breakdown structures to ensure smooth project execution.
• Oversee project schedules, apply advanced scheduling tools, and manage the financial health of projects, ensuring timely reporting and performance tracking.
• Manage engineers, designers, and subcontractors, ensuring quality deliverables while supporting internal standards and resource management.
• Maintain strong client relationships, manage project scope, and support marketing efforts, including proposal preparation and identifying new opportunities.
• Plan, implement, and supervise client contracts, ensuring successful project execution, while traveling to client facilities as needed (10%-15% travel time).

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering OR PMP Certification and 10 years of experience in engineering consulting, project management, or data centers.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a project manager or engineer with an engineering consulting firm doing data center projects.
• Experience working with a hyperscale data center directly or indirectly as a consultant (required).
• Skilled in cost/work-hour estimating and proposal development and review.
• Capable of reporting on and managing scope, schedule, and cost for multiple projects executing simultaneously.
• Knowledge in earned value management and progress reporting.
• Experienced in contract and non-disclosure agreement language development and review.
• Ability to understand and work with budget and accounting processes.
• Strong coordination and team-building skills.
• Excellent organizational, time management, strategic planning, writing, communication, decision-making, and presentation skills.
• Ability to read and write technically and coherently.
• Effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to work across disciplines and teams.
• Working knowledge of MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• PMP certification preferred.

Pay

Compensation range: USD $140,000.00 – USD $185,000.00 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, geographic location, and internal equity.

Schedule

• This position may be performed remotely in one of the following U.S. locations: Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; San Francisco, CA region; Virginia; Ohio; Texas; or fully remote within the U.S.
• Travel required: 10%-15% of the time, including potential fieldwork, with duration varying by project and client needs.
