Principal Engineer-Applications

About the Role

Microchip Technology Inc. has a Principal Engineer-Applications opening based in Austin, TX or Chandler, AZ. The successful candidate will provide technical support for Microchip’s Ethernet PHY and switch product lines, driving customer success using Microchip products.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions from Field Sales engineers and customers during the development process.
• Create collateral that improves the user experience, including:
  • Application Notes
  • Knowledgebase Articles
  • User Guides
  • Example Code
• Identify gaps in current enablement material and proactively set goals to address them.
• Create high-level requirements for development teams to improve the customer experience with new product development.
• Develop and present technical training such as webinars and hands-on workshops to customers, sales, and field application engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of programming languages, including C, C++, Python, and other embedded languages.
• Knowledge of Linux operating systems and the building process.
• Strong experience in customer support and customer enablement.
• Experience in technical training development and presentation.
• Knowledge of embedded processor development flow and ecosystems.
• Knowledge of Ethernet communication protocols, including TCP/IP and UDP.
• Knowledge of networking and network management concepts and applications.
• Working knowledge of hardware/software debug and lab equipment (e.g., Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer).
