About the role
Join a team focused on driving Infineon’s leadership in AI data center and telecom solutions. You will execute the system solution roadmap, design and validate state-of-the-art power electronics subsystems for high-density AI accelerators, and explore innovative DC/DC power conversion methods to advance AI infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and validation of power electronics subsystems for AI accelerators, including custom DC-DC converters and dynamic power supply architectures.
- Develop high-efficiency, high-density designs to meet the transient power demands of AI inference and training tasks.
- Explore novel DC/DC power conversion methods, such as resonant converters, wide-bandgap semiconductors (GaN, SiC), and HV-IBC architectures.
- Evaluate and document system architecture and application requirements for telecom and server power supplies.
- Conduct market research, teardowns, and analysis of competing systems to understand topology, content, and technical challenges.
- Define quantifiable technical value propositions and collateral for applications, including new solutions like GaN.
- Oversee system concept verification, design-in collateral, and technical customer support at the application level.
- Provide technical training on system-level topics to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the digital marketing team to ensure accurate system solution positioning, block representation, and searchability on Infineon’s website.
- Contribute technical inputs to customer proposals (RFIs/RFQs) and product feature definitions for digital/analog controllers and power stages.
- Occasional travel (10-15% of the time) for customer meetings in San Jose, CA.
Requirements
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience, or B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in power electronics, with a focus on isolated/non-isolated DC/DC power converters.
- Extensive knowledge of DC-DC converter topologies, magnetic components, and power semiconductor characteristics.
- Experience developing DC/DC power converter solutions, including concept, block diagrams, simulation, schematic, PCB layout, debugging, testing, and validation.
- Proficiency with simulation and PCB design tools.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, conducting design reviews, and providing training on power electronics topics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Desired Skills
- Experience with digital and analog controllers and gate drivers for power management (Si & GaN).
- Expertise in magnetics design and optimization.
- Familiarity with safety and EMI compliance standards.
- Advanced degree or doctorate in electrical engineering, power electronics, or a related field.
- Profound expertise in telecom brick designs, rack power supplies, and artificial intelligence applications.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in application or system engineering, ideally at an OEM, Tier 1, or engineering service provider.
Pay
Expected salary range for qualified candidates in the United States: $150,000 – $206,250 per year. All employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan.
