About the Role
This leadership position is responsible for the overall planning, directing, supervising, and implementation of the educational program within the school, ensuring an effective learning climate.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the design, supervision, and implementation of programs to meet the school’s specific needs, including recommendations for administration and instruction.
- Supervise all professional, paraprofessional, and administrative personnel (excluding health services governed by the Nurse Practice Act). Delegate authority in your absence.
- Direct the interviewing, training, assigning, and evaluating of the school’s professional staff, including orientation, performance evaluations, and recommendations for staffing changes.
- Lead, monitor, and support student attendance, conduct, and health, establishing guidelines for consistent discipline policies and positive behavior systems.
- Oversee the proper implementation of searches, investigations, and student drug testing programs while ensuring compliance with students' due process rights.
- Systematically develop a positive school culture to promote continuous student growth, aligning programs with academic standards.
- Coordinate curriculum, instruction, assessment, and data on student learning with research-based best practices.
- Schedule classes, develop the master teaching schedule, and allocate time efficiently to meet student and school-wide needs.
- Ensure building-wide compliance with federal, state, and local laws, District policies, and collective bargaining agreements. Recommend policy changes as needed.
- Supervise the building Guidance Program to enhance individual student education and development.
- Direct in-service training for teachers, including administrative procedures and staff coordination.
- Assist in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum and provide leadership in instructional program development.
- Prepare and submit budgetary requests, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with legal and District policies for school funds.
- Prepare, supervise, and maintain all required reports, records, and administrative data.
- Facilitate parent-teacher conferences and maintain active relationships with students, parents, and personnel.
- Supervise the daily use of school facilities for academic and non-academic purposes, ensuring security and accountability for school property.
- Monitor and support school safety, including fire drills and emergency preparedness programs.
- Act as a liaison between the school and community, interpreting school policies and encouraging community participation.
- Communicate effectively with District personnel regarding serious incidents or matters requiring attention.
- Maintain the confidentiality of student records and information.
- Guide the preparation and administration of federal, statewide, and local student assessments.
- Coordinate student activities that support the instructional program and meet community needs.
- Attend school-sponsored events to recognize student achievement and support school functions.
