Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, administers, manages, and coordinates all education programs of an elementary school.
  • Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, clerical, custodial, and other personnel.
  • Promotes and cultivates a school climate that values student voice and designs authentic student learning experiences through effective DEIB practices.
  • Assists in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum consistent with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Participates and maintains an effective and culturally responsive learning environment among the entire school community.
  • Serves as an instructional leader for the school and drives teaching and learning designed to meet elementary school student needs in order to create continuous improvement and equitable academic and social-emotional outcomes for all students.
  • Supports systems for promoting positive behavior and tiered intervention to meet the academic and social emotional needs of a diverse student body; maintains high expectations and motivation for all students to engage in continuous learning and development.
  • Initiates, facilitates, designs and implements programs and scheduling to meet student needs.
  • Acts as a liaison between the school and the local community encouraging the community to participate in the educational process as part of the overall school life.
  • Develops a program of public relations in order to further the community's understanding and support of educational programs.
  • Responsible for building and planning professional development programs and the Middleborough Public Schools Professional Development Plan.
  • Oversees the evaluation of teacher performance through the Middleborough Public Schools Educator Evaluation System.
  • Collaborates with central office staff to coordinate and supervise support functions such as maintenance, security, food services, recreational and after school/before school programs, library activities, and financial/budgeting and accounting functions.
  • Serves as the Co-Chairperson of the School Council.
  • Develops and oversees procedures for the continual assessment of student achievement, including all aspects of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS).
  • Works within the framework of policies, laws, and regulations enacted by local, state and federal authorities.
  • Coordinates and articulates transitional programs with the principal of the middle school and principal of the early childhood center.

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree in education or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful administrative experience at the elementary level.
  • Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive school improvement plans.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to foster a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Proven success in creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, families, and the broader community.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and community members to enhance educational opportunities.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to DEIB principles and practices.
  • Experience in managing budgets and overseeing financial operations.
  • Experience in coordinating and supervising various school support functions.
  • Experience in developing and implementing professional development programs.
  • Experience in evaluating teacher performance and providing feedback.
  • Experience in assessing student achievement and implementing strategies to improve student outcomes.
