About the role

Raytheon’s Radar Digital Products Department is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer with a strong COTS computing and networking background to join the Hardware and Infrastructure team implementing next-generation RADAR solutions. This position is 100% onsite in Tewksbury or Marlborough, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Design COTS hardware infrastructure systems (e.g., x86-based processors).
  • Research and select servers, workstations, add-in interface cards, storage devices, and other COTS hardware.
  • Engineer BIOS and operating system configuration definitions.
  • Operate standard test equipment in a lab environment, including oscilloscopes, processor bus analyzers, emulators, and data capture tools.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, field engineering, on-site installation teams, and customers to develop and deliver safety-critical systems.
  • Support occasional domestic and potential international travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the following areas (an advanced degree in a related field may substitute for two additional years of experience):
    • Experience with emerging and legacy hardware and software, including Unix and Linux operating systems.
    • Experience developing and implementing computing, networking, and information technology infrastructure through a rigorous design and documentation process.
    • Experience taking a system design concept from the block diagram or requirements level to a complete COTS-based hardware design and verifying it via integration and test plans.
    • Experience working in a lab environment with standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, processor bus analyzers, emulators, data capture tools, etc.).
    • Experience collaborating with hardware engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, field engineering, on-site installation teams, and customers to deliver safety-critical systems.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Current or in-progress computing/networking certifications (e.g., CCNA, AWS, CISSP).
  • Experience with RADAR system hardware.
  • Experience with firewall design and configuration.
  • Experience implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides, network hardening, and system-level hardware integration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience managing to a schedule and budget.
  • Active DoD security clearance.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the business unit and whether the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
