Principal, Air Quality
About the role
Join our Environment and Health department as our new Principal and work with our Air Quality team to close the gap to a sustainable future.
Responsibilities
- Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities;
- Managing projects, clients, and regulatory agency relations;
- Critically reviewing and interpreting local, state, and federal environmental regulations, compiling and drafting regulatory applicability determinations, and communicating findings, to co-workers, clients, and regulatory agencies;
- Overseeing the preparation of comprehensive federal and state air permit application materials;
- Testifying at administrative and/or court hearings;
- Participating in local, national and international scientific and trade group meetings; and
- Conducting site visits.
Requirements
- B.S./M.S./Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Environmental Sciences, or related discipline;
- 13+ years of related air science experience, largely in a consulting environment;
- Demonstrated capabilities in understanding, interpreting, and applying environmental regulations to real-world situations;
- Understanding of air quality issues and agency-approved methods and guidance;
- Ability to externally manage client and regulatory agency relationships and internally manage staff and competing project priorities;
- Demonstrated business development capabilities.
Qualifications
- B.S./M.S./Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Environmental Sciences, or related discipline;
- 13+ years of related air science experience, largely in a consulting environment;
- Demonstrated capabilities in understanding, interpreting, and applying environmental regulations to real-world situations;

Pay
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $178,000 - $222,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
