About the role
Ideal location: Houston, TX; other locations in Texas will also be considered. This position offers great opportunity for local leadership and advancement in the Baton Rouge, LA office. We are seeking applicants with a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in consulting, with a focus on air quality. If you have a strong foothold in the Louisiana market and desire leadership potential, this role is for you.
As our new Air Quality Principal, you will be part of the firm’s collaborative, inclusive, and creative Air Quality team. The successful candidate will provide technical and business leadership while contributing to innovative solutions in the commercial, manufacturing, government, energy, financial, insurance, and/or law sectors. You must demonstrate an ability to generate and maintain a volume of business sufficient to support the growth of the firm—typically enough to support 2-3 staff members. This role requires experience managing consulting assignments, working effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, and guiding decision-making through proficient analysis and communication.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities
- Manage projects, clients, and regulatory agency relations
- Critically review and interpret local, state, and federal environmental regulations; compile and draft regulatory applicability determinations; and communicate findings to co-workers, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Oversee the preparation of comprehensive federal and state air permit application materials
- Testify at administrative and/or court hearings
- Participate in local, national, and international scientific and trade group meetings
- Conduct site visits
- Demonstrate a commitment to mentoring and developing Associate and Manager level staff
- Collaborate with colleagues throughout the Practice
Qualifications
- B.S./M.S./Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Environmental Sciences, or related discipline
- 15+ years of related air science experience, largely in a consulting environment
- Demonstrated capabilities in understanding, interpreting, and applying environmental regulations to real-world situations
- Understanding of air quality issues and agency-approved methods and guidance
- Ability to externally manage client and regulatory agency relationships and internally manage staff and competing project priorities
- Demonstrated business development capabilities

Pay
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $170,000 to $205,000 per year. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime, or other forms of compensation, along with a comprehensive benefits package supporting well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
