About the Role

Tends one or more machines or processes as directed by the area supervisor. Ensures machines operate properly and calls for a technician or supervisor when needed. Performs quality assurance checks, transports raw materials, semi-finished, and finished goods to maintain efficient process flow. Follows oral and written instructions, wears required protective equipment, and adheres to all plant and safety rules. Actively supports the facility’s mission, safety, and ISO goals.

Responsibilities

  • Works safely and orderly at all times, following plant, department, and area rules while encouraging others to do the same.
  • Obtains, maintains, and uses all necessary safety equipment as directed.
  • Attends shift, department, and plant meetings as required.
  • Tends machines or processes, including:
    • Conveying raw and semi-finished materials to and from machines or work areas.
    • Loading raw materials into machines or work surfaces.
    • Processing raw materials into semi-finished or finished materials.
    • Maintaining process integrity through proper documentation and record-keeping.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • May handle hazardous waste, including labeling, inspecting, storing, and transferring. Hazardous Waste Management training is required within six months of hire and annually thereafter. Employees handling hazardous waste must work under direct supervision until trained.
  • Good attendance is required; overtime, including extended shifts or scheduled days off, may be necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English to:
    • Communicate effectively with team members and supervision.
    • Read and comprehend process instructions.
    • Record pertinent process information.
  • Basic personal computer skills to navigate menus and select, open, and print documents.

Work Environment

The role involves frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, explosives, and vibration. Eye protection (safety glasses or goggles) and steel-toe safety shoes are required. Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme cold. The work environment is usually loud, requiring hearing protection.

Physical Demands

  • Vision correctable to 20/20 with normal depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 25 lbs. unaided.
  • Ability to push a loaded production buggy weighing up to 1,500 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit for up to 3 hours at a time.
  • Occasional kneeling, crouching, bending, or extending reach.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
  • Ability to grasp and feel small parts.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $21.26. The actual salary offered will depend on experience, geographic location, education, and skills.
