Prime Brokerage Trade Support Vice President

About the Role
Nomura's Prime Brokerage middle office acts as a crucial link between the front office (sales and trading) and the back office (settlements and operations). The core function is to manage and control operational risk associated with prime brokerage activities and ensure smooth, accurate transaction processing for hedge fund clients and institutional investors.
This role focuses on restarting the Cash Prime Brokerage business in New York. You will oversee the complete lifecycle of client transactions—trade capture, affirmation, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation—while resolving trade breaks, discrepancies, and settlement exceptions in coordination with internal teams (settlements, margin) and external broker-dealers.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the end-to-end lifecycle of client transactions runs smoothly, including trade capture, affirmation, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation.
- Resolve trade breaks, discrepancies, and settlement exceptions by collaborating with settlements, margin teams, and broker-dealers.
- Manage cash movements and perform accurate cash reconciliation for clients.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on operational inquiries, asset servicing, corporate actions, and transaction processing.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to meet operational needs and enhance client experiences.
- Provide expertise on prime brokerage services and advise on complex processing issues.
- Monitor and control risks tied to prime brokerage activities, including trade processing, settlement, and corporate actions.
- Adhere to internal and external regulatory requirements and escalate potential risk issues to senior management.
- Handle and review corporate action queries (dividends, principal/interest, mandatory/voluntary events, proxies, tax implications) and coordinate elections with internal teams and clients.
- Collaborate with sales, trading, settlements, technology, and risk management departments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of middle office experience at a bank, with specific expertise in Cash Prime.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Mathematics, Finance, or a related field).
- High proficiency in Excel.
- Strong client service skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple issues and prioritize workloads effectively.

Pay
Base pay at commencement of employment is expected to range from $125,000 to $150,000 per year. Total compensation may include a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, discretionary awards, and eligibility for medical, financial, and retirement benefits (e.g., 401(k)), as well as paid time off (vacation, sick leave, parental leave).
