Primary Care Physician
We are seeking a Primary Care Physician to support the Veteran community in the St. Cloud, MN area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals.

Location: 4801 Veterans Drive, St Cloud, MN
Pay: $160+ per hour
Contract Type: 1 base year with 2, 1-year option periods
Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
A Typical Day
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
- An average of 12 patients a day, with appointment times varying between 30 minutes and 60 minutes.
- An estimated 80% of time is involved in direct patient care, including:
- Annual physicals, screenings, and vaccinations to maintain good health and prevent disease.
- Treating common illnesses and minor injuries, such as colds, flu, rashes, and sprains.
- Helping patients manage long-term health conditions like hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes through regular check-ins, medication management, and ordering tests.
- Providing counseling and patient education on healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition, and weight management.
- Care of chronic and acute conditions, including but not limited to:
- Hypertension, Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia
- Joint pain, Upper respiratory issues, Skin conditions
- Mental health concerns, Musculoskeletal issues
- Neurology, Gynecology, Geriatrics, Ambulatory conditions
- Be present on time for any scheduled clinics as documented by physical presence in the clinic at the scheduled start time.
- Provide consultation with and instruction to referring Physicians regarding appropriate indications for procedures.
- Determine the appropriate course of treatment and communicate in person or by phone with the referring clinicians.
- Initiate appropriate social work referrals for all identified homeless veterans and for patients who do not have primary care providers.
- Follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
- Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all patients.
- Communicate all test results in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
- An estimated 20% of time not involved in direct patient care, including:
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation as required by the Chief of Staff, or designee.
- Refer all patient/customer service issues to the Supervisory Physician, Nurse Manager, or designee.
Requirements
- Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Board Eligibility or Board Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (ABIM or ABFM).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Previous experience as a Primary Care physician providing direct patient care.
- Previous experience with the VA is a plus.
If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.
