About the Role

Provide home-based services to families referred to and qualifying for the SafeCare program. The goal of services is to reduce the risk of families causing abuse and neglect of children.

This position is supervised by the Program Supervisor and/or Program Manager.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the SafeCare Model to qualifying families in their natural home environment, working around the family’s schedule and respecting their culture.
• Utilize case management to advocate for and assist families with community resources; accompany families to obtain needed services.
• Assist families with crisis stabilization and arrange follow-up services after case termination.
• Facilitate families in developing skills or increasing knowledge in child health, home safety, parent-child bonding, parent-child interaction, behavior management, child development, communication, and advocacy.
• Promote a warm and engaging organizational culture aligned with NorthCare values, trauma-informed care, and health and wellness.
• Provide motivational interviewing and problem-solving in areas of substance use, intimate partner violence, mental health, and other family-defined areas.
• Achieve fidelity to the SafeCare Model within nine months of starting the curriculum with families; coaches/trainers will shadow up to two times per month as required by the National SafeCare Training and Resource Center (NSTRC).
• Maintain weekly contact with families.
• Transport clients to various community locations and provide in-home services.
• Monitor and track outcome measures for client caseload.
• Maintain clinical records in a timely manner as required by agency policy, funding sources, and accreditation authorities.
• Conduct yourself professionally while developing and maintaining positive relationships with consumers, community partners, and coaches/trainers.
• Adopt a flexible 40-hour work schedule to accommodate family needs; use Outlook calendar to track meetings, responsibilities, and appointments.
• Participate in trainings/workshops related to SafeCare and expand knowledge in intimate partner violence, substance use, mental health, and motivational interviewing.
• Aid in the recruitment and retention of potential families through community fairs, outreach, and speaking events, including nights and weekends.
• Carry a cell phone at all times; return calls and texts promptly; check and respond to email daily.
• Maintain consistent work attendance; notify supervisor promptly of late arrivals or absences; adhere to dress code expectations.
• Complete all NorthCare-required courses and training; comply with agency policies and procedures, including confidentiality, documentation deadlines, and productivity expectations.
• Perform any reasonable work requested that falls within qualifications but is not specifically described.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field; preferably a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a related field, and/or a Master’s Degree in a closely related field.
• Access to reliable transportation; local travel required.
• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and verification during employment.
• Current automobile liability insurance including uninsured motorist coverage; verification required.
• CPR, First Aid, and Therapeutic Options certifications; obtain within 30 days of employment if not already certified.
• Complete all other NorthCare-required training within 30 days of employment.
• TB test within 12 months prior to employment or obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Weekly contact with each family on caseload.
• Ability to provide services in various community settings, including client homes, local venues, via telehealth, or in the office.
• Critical thinking skills for appropriate staffing of situations; limited onsite supervision available.
• Travel to and from appointments; "business purposes" added to auto insurance required.
• Access to an internet hotspot; eligible for phone and hotspot stipend.
• Considered an essential worker; may be expected to work holidays, weekends, or during closures.
• High degree of flexibility and efficiency.
• Proficiency in MS Word and intermediate general computer skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to move about facilities freely.
• Casual professional dress adhering to dress code requirements.
