JOB SUMMARY: The Prescription Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for prescription-related services, including medication refills, prescription changes, and prior authorizations. This role works closely with patients, providers, medical assistants, pharmacies, and insurance companies to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of prescription requests while supporting high-quality patient care and positive patient outcomes. Success in this role requires timely processing of prescription requests, effective patient communication, and collaboration with providers, pharmacies, and insurance carriers. Duties And Responsibilities Prescription Management Process medication refill requests, prescription renewals, and prescription changes in a timely manner.Review and route prescription requests according to provider instructions and clinic protocols.Monitor prescription requests to ensure established turnaround times are met.Maintain accurate prescription documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Prior Authorizations Initiate, submit, track, and follow up on medication prior authorizations.Communicate with insurance carriers regarding coverage requirements and authorization status.Notify providers, clinical staff, and patients of authorization determinations and alternative medication options when applicable. Patient and Pharmacy Coordination Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies.Assist patients in resolving prescription-related concerns, medication access issues, and insurance barriers.Ensure prescriptions are transmitted accurately and promptly to pharmacies.Respond professionally to phone calls, messages, and prescription inquiries. Compliance and Quality Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect the confidentiality of patient information.Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and quality standards.Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records.Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. - requiredFluency in Spanish. - requiredFamiliarity with common prescription medications, dosage forms, and medication terminology. - requiredProficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office applications. - requiredOne (1) year of experience processing prescription refills. - preferredOne (1) year of experience managing medication prior authorizations. - preferredCompletion of an accredited Medical Assistant program – preferred Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or a National Medical Assistant Certification (RMA, CCMA, CMA, or equivalent) - required Key Competencies For Success Faith to believe that Hope is a ministry of God, exemplifying the love of Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit. Typical Physical Demands Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. Frequent sitting. Manual dexterity. Good reading eyesight and vision for close work. Ability to communicate by speaking and hearing in person or on the phone. Ability to travel to various locations.
