Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under the supervision of the instructor
  • Communicate the progress of the students to the instructor
  • Perform such duties as may relate to the motivation and achievement of students in academic and skills areas
  • Aid with behavior interventions under the direction of the instructor
  • Aid with routine daily activities, including bus duty, recess, lunch, bathroom (may include diapering), etc.
  • Support in a classroom environment by working directly with teachers and students
  • Maintain accurate records and logs
  • Design and/or prepare training/instructional materials, teaching aids and devices

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions
  • Ability to deal with strenuous physical requirements such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities and recurring lifting of students and/or lift over 50 pounds
  • Ability to deal with risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check contingent upon employment

Preferred Experience

  • Practical knowledge of basic classroom techniques and organization
  • Techiques for assisting and providing effective support to classroom teachers
