Key Responsibilities
- Prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under the supervision of the instructor
- Communicate the progress of the students to the instructor
- Perform such duties as may relate to the motivation and achievement of students in academic and skills areas
- Aid with behavior interventions under the direction of the instructor
- Assist with routine daily activities, including bus duty, recess, lunch, bathroom duties (may include diapering), etc.
- Support in a classroom environment by working directly with teachers and students
- Maintain accurate records and logs
- Design and/or prepare training/instructional materials, teaching aids and devices
Qualifications
- Practical knowledge of basic classroom techniques and organization
- Techiques for assisting and providing effective support to classroom teachers
- Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions
- Enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in either written or electronic form
- Excited about working with students with disabilities
- Positive in their dealings with teachers and other staff
- Good listeners who follow directions well
- Respected and trusted by students and parents
- Willing to be flexible in work tasks and assignments
