About the role
The Y in Central Maryland seeks individuals who are passionate about early childhood education and committed to fostering the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of children. This role contributes to the Y's mission of promoting individual and community well-being.
Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and supervise early childhood classroom structure, including lesson plans, schedules, routines, and transitions.
- Lead the classroom and support associates, ensuring adherence to state standards and regulations as well as the Y’s philosophy and approach to early childhood education.
- Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of children enrolled in the program.
- Create an environment that fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child in your care.
- Work with Y participants to help them prepare for success in school and life.
Requirements
- Enthusiasm for young children
- Patience
- Good humor
- Good judgment
- A good spirit
- The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
- At least 1 year of early childhood experience
- A high school degree or GED
- Your 90 hour child care certification
