Overview

The Goddard School in Milton, MA is seeking an Assistant Director to join a dedicated team of educators committed to nurturing young children and preparing them for lifelong learning. The position offers a supportive and collaborative environment, along with a competitive salary and performance bonus.

Role Summary

The Assistant Director will work closely with the leadership team and educators to create a positive and engaging learning environment. Responsibilities include overseeing teachers, supporting administrative tasks, and fostering strong relationships with families and other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support teachers in developing and implementing core and enrichment curriculum
  • Support and/or create class and enrichment schedules and maintain appropriate staffing levels
  • Support/lead teacher observations, training, coaching, and orientation
  • Establish positive and productive relationships with families
  • Understand and implement Goddard’s Health & Safety procedures
  • Oversee and support classroom functions and operations including daily reports, pictures, Portfolios, etc.
  • Communicate appropriately and professionally with both parents and fellow staff members
  • Collaborate with other team members to plan and participate in school events and activities
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines set by the school and state regulations
  • Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, and other aspects of professional development

Requirements

  • A 2 or 4 year degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (will consider current enrollment in pursuit of a degree)
  • Previous admin/leadership experience in a childcare or educational setting
  • EEC Certification preferred (prefer DI or higher; Lead Teacher with experience acceptable)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children and adults
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Availability to work between the hours of 7:00am - 6:00pm

General Qualifications

  • Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid
  • Ability to see and read newsprint, with or without corrective lenses
  • Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances
  • Ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet, with or without corrective devices; this includes the ability to evacuate the building during emergencies
  • Ability to handle crisis situations, especially where children are involved
  • Ability to respond immediately to emergency situations
