Premier High School Cleveland is seeking an experienced, inspiring, and collaborative educator to join our faculty as a High School English Language Arts (ELA) Lead Teacher in Ohio. In this role, you will balance classroom teaching with analysis of growth measures, collaboration with fellow educators and leadership, delivery of curriculum, design of remediation, and student advocacy for grades 9–12.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous ELA instruction that builds critical thinking, advanced composition, and literary analysis skills.
  • Align, deliver, and remediate the 9–12 curriculum with Ohio's Learning Standards for English Language Arts.
  • Collaborate with fellow lead teachers and faculty through classroom observations, co-planning sessions, and professional development.
  • Analyze student assessment trends from Ohio State Tests (OST) to lead targeted reading and writing intervention strategies.
  • Manage instructional and program responsibilities for assigned students, including classroom instruction, after-school, and Saturday tutorials.
  • Administer and monitor diagnostic tests to determine student performance levels.
  • Instruct and motivate students in all course studies; assign lessons and correct homework promptly.
  • Administer tests to evaluate student progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents.
  • Maintain discipline and a safe, engaging classroom environment that promotes academic excellence and moral character.
  • Communicate with parents and schedule periodic meetings to discuss student progress and problems.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Inspire students with consistency, care, and interest to build self-esteem and promote success.
  • Utilize a variety of learning methods to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Prepare classroom instruction to promote student success on state assessment exams.
  • Work closely with special education teachers to ensure modifications are implemented for special education students.
  • Assist and counsel students in adjustment and academic problems.
  • Master the Premier High School Curriculum System to assist students in meeting Premier Model expectations.
  • Read and comply with the ResponsiveEd Procedures Manual, Student Handbook, Student Code of Conduct, and Employee Handbook.
  • Perform special projects during and after normal business hours, including Saturday Mandatory State Tutorials, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or Secondary Education.
  • Valid, active Ohio Professional Educator License for Secondary Education (Grades 7–12) with an Integrated Language Arts endorsement.
  • Must pass Ohio BCI and FBI criminal background checks required for state school employment.
  • Teaching experience in a public school (3+ years preferred).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
