About the role
We are seeking a passionate High School English Language Arts (ELA) teacher dedicated to fostering an engaging and rigorous classroom environment focused on preparing students for college.
Responsibilities
- Delivering instruction from a diverse literature curriculum emphasizing inclusion, diversity, and college readiness, analyzing works by authors like Baldwin, Morrison, Shakespeare, and Gyasi.
- Promoting student-led discourse, critical thinking, and analytical skills in reading and writing.
- Assessing student understanding and adapting lessons to maximize learning outcomes.
- Collaborating with colleagues on instructional strategies and content to support student success.
- Analyzing student performance data to differentiate instruction effectively.
- Building positive relationships with students and families, participating in professional development, and contributing to school community and culture.
Qualifications
- Commitment to supporting students' social, emotional, and academic growth.
- Interest in impacting K-12 students in urban settings, with 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
- Academic background in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- Bachelor's degree required; NY certification eligibility desired, with certification to be obtained post-employment if not already certified.
- Self-motivated learner who seeks feedback and implements improvements.
Pay & Benefits
- Competitive salary between $52,000 to $68,000, depending on experience and certifications.
