About the role
Works directly with nursing students in the simulated lab to develop competency with skills, providing a bridge between classroom theory and skills application. Collaborates with the Human Patient Simulation (HPS) team in the incorporation of simulation into nursing courses through implementing high-quality learning and assessment scenarios and assists with the evaluation of the effectiveness of simulation on the learning process, including student performance regarding simulated patient care decisions, participation, and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Reinforces the instruction provided by faculty by utilizing a variety of learning modalities in the labs
- Advises and counsels students on proper documentation techniques and provides feedback to students
- Administers competency testing to Nursing Skills Lab students
- Maintains record-keeping system to ensure program and students meet and maintain accreditation standards
- Assists in the development of policies related to the Nursing Skill Lab program
- Performs circulating duties to assist in the psychomotor portion of the curriculum
- Monitors simulation lab utilization ensuring supplies and equipment are gathered at locations
- Assists with equipment/supplies setup and maintenance after sessions
- Operates simulation equipment, including simulators, Audio/Visual and recording equipment, and assists with the training of other operators of the simulators as needed
- Provides updates on operations to Lab Director
- Anticipates and meets all customer needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (significant related experience may substitute education)
- Active, unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse license
- Minimum of three (3) years of current clinical experience as an RN
- Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
- Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem-solving methods in adaptive situations

- Ability to work days, evenings, and/or weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Demonstrated experience in diverse learning strategies
- Demonstrated experience working with nursing students in a clinical or educational setting
- Demonstrated basic critical care skills
- Demonstrated experience with simulation lab environments
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; the work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type
- There may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.
- Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
Pay
$29.00/hour (minimum hiring rate for Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, Grade 11)
Schedule
- Monday–Friday: 4:00 PM–9:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
