Pre-Sales Engineer / Bilingual Japanese
Japanese Bilingual Pre-Sales Engineer (Hybrid) position with a large global systems integration company in New York. This role involves working with customers and internal teams to identify business needs and develop appropriate IT solutions.
About the role
The Pre-Sales Engineer will work closely with customers, sales representatives, and technical teams to develop customized IT solutions. The role combines technical expertise, customer relationship management, pre-sales consultation, and sales support to support business growth by identifying customer needs and communicating the value of the company’s IT products and services.
Responsibilities
- Understand customers’ business needs, technical requirements, and operational challenges.
- Recommend appropriate products and services based on customer requirements.
- Develop and present customized technical solutions to prospective and existing customers.
- Conduct product and service demonstrations and clearly communicate technical features and business value.
- Prepare technical proposals, bills of materials (BOMs), basic system designs, presentations, and pricing estimates.
- Collaborate with sales and technical teams to identify and qualify new business opportunities.
- Participate in customer meetings and provide pre-sales technical support.
- Respond to customers’ technical questions and concerns.
- Coordinate with engineering and implementation teams to ensure the successful delivery of solutions.
- Provide post-sales support, including troubleshooting assistance and customer training.
- Prepare technical documentation, user manuals, specifications, and training materials.
- Support order acquisition, contract renewals, pricing discussions, and contract negotiations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and other business stakeholders.
- Identify prospective customers and qualify potential sales leads.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, market developments, and competitor offerings.
- Participate in trade shows, industry events, and sales meetings as required.
- Provide feedback to internal teams regarding customer needs and market trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Professional-level proficiency in both Japanese and English.
- At least two years of experience as an IT Engineer, Systems Engineer, Sales Engineer, or in a similar technical role.
- Strong understanding of IT systems and the ability to learn complex technical products and services.
- Ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to identify customer needs and propose appropriate technical solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to commute to the New York office under a hybrid work arrangement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Japanese companies and the Japanese business market in North America.
- Familiarity with on-premises, hybrid, cloud, networking, and cybersecurity solutions.
- Experience working with technologies and solutions offered by Microsoft, Cisco, or other major IT vendors.
- Experience preparing technical proposals, bills of materials, system designs, and other technical documentation.
- Experience supporting sales activities, customer presentations, and contract negotiations.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
- Experience working with sales, engineering, product development, and marketing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to meet sales objectives or contribute to revenue growth.

Pay
$25–$40 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Full-time hybrid position with occasional business travel required.
